CENTENNIAL EXCURSION TRAIN RIDES
Sunday, July 1st 2018
All aboard the Green Mountain Railroad! Join us for an exciting train ride to honor Newport's heritage. One hour excursions will meander along the Central Maine & Quebec railway from Newport to Orleans and back. Reminiscent of vintage era, "The Green Fleet" train cars feature many observation windows perfect for viewing scenery as it passes. For the first time since July 18, 1965 when the last train left Newport's Train station, passengers of all ages will enjoy the natural and historic views of Orleans county on a round trip excursion. Admission includes a commemorative train ticket for every rider.
Choosing Your Tickets
An advance ticket is required for every passenger boarding the train, all sales are final. Departure times cannot be rescheduled once you have completed your order. Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. For special or handicap accommodations, please contact us before purchasing tickets.
Where do I pick up my tickets?
Ticket pickup is the day of your ride in Pomerleau Park, just prior to your boarding time. Bring your confirmation to the white and red lighthouse building next to the footbridge entrance. Please arrive 30-40 minutes ahead of your boarding time to allow for parking, ticketing and restroom visits. It's best to reserve tickets for each passenger under their first and last name when ordering. Tickets are not available until just prior to your ride time. Please plan to wait outside for boarding.
Once you've received your tickets, passengers may walk across the footbridge to the Waterfront Plaza for boarding. Event staff will announce when the train cars may be boarded and will help seat passengers.
Are there restrooms aboard the train?
The train cars do not have running water, and therefore do not have restrooms. Please plan to use the port-o-lets at the Waterfront Plaza either before or after your ride.
How are seats assigned?
Specific seats are not assigned. Passengers are seated in the order which they board. If your party is large, please arrive early for the best chance to be seated together. We cannot reserve seats during boarding so please wait to board when your entire party has arrived.
How should I dress?
Please dress in layers and plan for cold or hot weather, as you will be waiting to board the train outside. Train cars are not air conditioned.
